Burendag, organized by Douwe Egberts and Oranje Fonds, was again a great success at its 18th edition. Neighbors baked cakes, made birdhouses together, fixed up their community gardens and shared dinner during barbecues. This year a record number of neighborhoods participated; with 9.200 neighborhood activities, there were over 12% more registrations than in 2023.
For Burendag 2024, 2twintig developed a differentiated media approach that targeted both national and regional media. We rolled out a strategy where we shared specific data and stories by province to engage press. In collaboration with Oranje Fonds, we asked some of the participating neighborhoods if they would like to host press and to answer their questions. In this way we optimally supported press in making (locally) relevant news items.
This resulted in big media attention from De Telegraaf, AD, Radio 1, regional broadcasters such as Omroep West, RTV Utrecht and Omroep Flevoland, and local newspapers like De Gelderlander, De Limburger, Brabants Dagblad and PZC.
